This book was so good! I read Letters from Skye when it came out and I loved it so I was very excited to read Jessica Brockmole's latest book. I was definitely not disappointed. Now I'm looking forward to what she comes up with next.

At the Edge of Summer A Novel Jessica Brockmole 9780345547897 Books Reviews

I was reading “All quiet on the Western Front” at the same time. Very similar war stories, but the love interests in this one kept it moving faster. I loved it!
So much more...the author shed such light on the effects of war on its brave soldiers. And, the very real Studio for Portrait Masks that once existed in Paris. I will miss these characters and walking with them while they made important choices.
A winding love story, set in the years before, during, and after WWI. I was fascinated by the historical, particularly with the author highlighting the work of artists creating craniofacial prosthetics for wounded soldiers. At the Edge of Summer was a quiet, lovely story.
Although I liked Letters From Skye a bit better, I do love Ms. Brockmole's writing and plots. This is an engrossing story of two young people separated by WW1, and so much more. Her characters come to life on the page. Highly recommend this book.
Jessica Brockmole once again finds a way to take historical footnotes and bring them to a vivid awareness in mind's eye and the reader's heart. Beautifully developed characters let us see a slice of public and personal history from their unique points of view. Very enjoyable reading.
I loved this book. The author makes you see France as if you are there. Her characters come alive, and I couldn’t wait to see how the story ends!
Wonderful book. Lyrically written and very evocative of time and place. Explored a situation (the production by artists of prosthetic masks for facially disfigured WWI soldiers) that I was familiar with, but hadn’t read about in any depth. Fascinating and moving.
This book was so good! I read Letters from Skye when it came out and I loved it so I was very excited to read Jessica Brockmole's latest book. I was definitely not disappointed. Now I'm looking forward to what she comes up with next.
