I read many reviews before purchasing this book and I can hardly believe what people define as "exciting," 'action filled," "intense thrills," etc. Surely they were not reading the same book I just gave up on halfway through after days of reading for half-an-hour at a time. I found it totally soporific, dull, off-putting, and not in the least suspenseful, exciting, or even interesting ... definitely not "intensely thrilling." I'll give the author credit for his interior monologues from a man who is confused about his mission, horny, uncertain, confused, etc. Maybe the second half was more exciting than the first, but, man, what a struggle to stick with this story! I'm still not sure why the hero was posted to this particular location or even what his ultimate goal was. He was an expert bomb maker who spends all his time looking for ingredients with which to make a bomb (not to mention lie with a woman who hates him) ... did it ever happen? This reminded me a bit of Kafka but without the literary merit. The writer captured his main character's confusion and fear very well, but that hardly classifies his work as an "espionage thriller." Beware of any book title in which the seller adds the words "thriller." That usually means it isn't.

The Rainy Day Man Contemporary Romance Suspense and Political Mystery Book 1 edition by Amnon Jackont Dorothea SheferVanson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Danny is a character you will not soon forget. That's what most of us look for when reading a book. We look for well developed characters and a plot we can get lost in. Danny faces some central themes, such as trust and dishonesty, that the average person has to deal with on a regular basis. I think that is what drew me into the emotional roller coaster of this plot.

Jackont has managed to write a story with incredible attention to detail, in a way that flows perfectly! The story is an emotional roller coaster ride. The plot is something that has been done before, which made it all the more challenging for Jackont to keep the readers engaged. I can say with full confidence that I was fully engaged for the entire book! The action was great, the character development was perfect, and there was the perfect amount of emotional engagement.

I'm not going into the story line here. It's a spy story, that much we all already know. You are going to have to read it for yourself to get the full effect and I'm not about to spoil that for you!
This is a well crafted story and I absolutely enjoyed reading it from start to finish. It's a captivating and gripping read that had me engaged from the beginning. The story flows from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. There's a profusion of well illustrated scenes that really make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that's something I really look for in a good book.

The story had every element a good story should have. An exciting plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. This interesting and compelling work, as I said, had my attention from the start and there are twists and turns in this page turner that will take the reader on an intriguing and thrilling journey! Also, the writing style is uncomplicated which makes for an enjoyable read.

It's one of those stories that come along once in awhile that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I'm giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery and enjoyment for the reader! I'd highly recommend this read to all fans of the mystery/thriller/suspense genre.

I'll certainly be looking forward to reading more from Amnon Jackont in the future!
This book caught me off guard, as the cover dictates one thing and the interior is all out warfare. Danny Simon is a classic archetype for the reluctant hero. He’s retired, and pulled back in one more time, because he’s the best. There is a powder keg building through the course of the book that explodes in the latter half as the tightening noose of the character starts to choke the life out of him. I love the clichés but as much as those were present, so much more begin to develop in the long term.

It’s not an epic novel, but it has enough pacing to get you interested in what’s going on, and where it’s going. By the time I arrived at the conclusion I was thoroughly done, as there’s an emotional rollercoaster found here that is not too unlike many of the better action movies from the past. Overall a good book that will draw you in emotionally and then drives you through some incredible action. I liked it a lot.
“The Rainy Day Man” is an extremely well written book with many suspenseful twists and turns that will make it hard to put down! The suspense builds and the character development evolves with it, as Danny is a very relatable character that gains the emotions of the reader.

I've been reading a lot about espionage recently, and love the genre and was hoping that this book would bring more mystery into my life. Let me say that I was not disappointed with this book at all! Quite the contrary, I felt like I was unable to set my e-reader down, and only grudgingly put it down when I needed to get other things done around the house.

The book starts out very curiously, with the narrator talking about his own funeral. I found the way that the author, Amnon Jackont, developed the mystery surrounding Danny's paranoia was wonderful. I often found myself asking the same questions as Danny, and even letting my imagination run wild with the book and picture myself in the same situations.

Overall, the book was amazingly well written, with a mysterious plot that made my imagination go into overdrive. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a great mystery novel to spice up their life!
